MARINA JENKINS -
GUARDIAN OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN THE UK

A lucky twist brought me to the UK — and to a job I love: supporting children who come here to study at boarding schools.
Each year, my team and I look after over 70 students from all over the world. We visit them in schools across the country, speak with their houseparents and teachers, and stay closely connected.
Over the past six years, our agency has supported hundreds of students across the UK — from Scotland to the South Coast. We have visited around 200 British schools and developed a deep understanding of the different needs students may have depending on their background, culture and language.
Sending a child abroad is a big step. It’s exciting, but also full of questions, worries, and unknowns. That’s why I’m here — to be their safe point of contact, and your calm connection to life in the UK.
My own son is studying abroad, so I know what parents go through. I understand the challenges students face and how to support them. I also know what it’s like to be a parent watching from afar — and I recognise the worries, the hopes, and the expectations that come with this journey.
